Former Detective Jailed for Corruption

Ex-PC Charles Fletcher Sentenced for Supplying Information to Middleman

Convicted Officer Part of Ring Linked to Crime Boss

Former trainee detective Charles Fletcher has been sentenced to prison for corruption after he was found to have supplied intelligence reports to a middleman who subsequently passed them on to a known crime boss.

The Observer has learned that police believe one of the constables who supplied Fletcher with information was PC Gunn, who was also arrested and charged in connection with the case. Gunn used Fletcher and another corrupt officer, Philip Parr, to obtain sensitive police data for an organized crime group.

In a statement, the Crown Prosecution Service said that Fletcher had "breached the trust of the public and his colleagues" and that his actions had "undermined the integrity of the police service." Fletcher was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

The investigation into Fletcher's corruption is part of a wider probe into organized crime in the West Midlands. In November 2023, a raid on Radford Road police station uncovered evidence linking Fletcher and Gunn to a network of criminals involved in drug trafficking, money laundering, and violent crime.

The case has raised serious concerns about the extent of corruption within the police force and has led to calls for a thorough investigation into the problem. Police chiefs have vowed to root out any corrupt officers and to restore the public's trust in the police.
